Business Analyst

The Business Analyst provides input to the product development process by liaising closely with the product owner and subject matter experts to ensure client requirements and priorities are well understood and documented. In line with the Agile concepts of empowerment, the Business Analyst leaves detailed product delivery planning and control to the Scrum Teams.

The Business Analyst at times can be a participating member (“developer”) in a Scrum team. In this case, he/she becomes part of the team and treats other outside Scrum activities as impediments to the given objective. Also at times the BA can be the Scrum Master in a Scrum team. As a Scrum Master the BA is focused on facilitating the daily and weekly ceremonies, resolving impediments for the team and ensuring the team follows the sprint objective before focusing on own tasks.

Outside of a Scrum team the Business Analyst role is focused on client projects, product requirements, portfolio refinement and assisting with internal tasks.

Key aspects of the position

  • Work as a key member of an agile software development process to continuously improve software solutions and architecture
  • Apply analytical expertise to challenging design, usage and usability problems.
  • Write user stories and detailed, behavior-driven, acceptance criteria by describing the solution behavior from the perspective of its stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development of guidelines, standards and best practices.

  • Assist in finding and resolving defects during QA, pre-production, production and post-release.
  • Deliver daily updates, weekly and monthly reporting as requested and required.
  • Provide support to other members of Forwood to assist them with customer service, technical advice, IT implementation services and general company activities.
  • Keep all IT Intellectual Property confidential and ensure Forwood Safety copyright is prominently displayed, attached and shown on any IT information, services or documentation that is seen or shown to other people outside of Forwood Safety.
  • Complete tasks (both new and routine tasks) as identified through meetings, planning sessions and work instructions.
